Chapter 10. This discussion closes on Sunday June 19th at midnight. A- Compare the membership of Congress (both houses) and the "typical" American citizen. B- Do a little outside research on the make up of the Congress of the United States during the reconstruction era ( 1865-1877). You can get a lot of info by googling the topic. How did the make up of the congress change during the reconstruction era before the national troops left the South(1877), specifically regarding the new African Americans members in congress? Congress is made up of the House of Representatives and the Senate. The senate is much smaller than the house. The House of Representatives has 435 members plus delegates from District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, and the Virgin Islands, while the senate has only 100 members (346).
