Two companies where originally involved. Darpa and European Commission where the original companies, later others wisely followed suit. B) Any individual or organization that can sign the membership agreement can become a member. Fees vary depending on individual, organization countries income, and whether organization is for profit or not. For example, an non profit or government agency would pay $7900.00 annually; according to http://w3.org a for-profit organization that has annual gross revenue, as measured by the most recent audited statement, of greater than or equal to 50,000,000 USD would pay $68,500.00 annually. 2.
