Projects 1 & 2 1 Mat 126 Week Three Written Assignment Mindi Barker These exercises focus on two very important aspects in mathematics. The first of these focuses on the ability to solve quadratic equations using the Indian method of which uses a six step procedure to come about an answer for these equations. The second of these equations touches on the topic of determining formulas that yields prime numbers. These methods use two very different techniques in determining outcomes for some everyday mathematical problems 1. (a.) - - = x2 2x 13 0 . - = a x2 2x 13 (move the constant term to right side of equation) b. - × = × 4 2x 4 13 (multiply each term by four times coefficient of x 2 which is 1) or - = 4x2 8x 52 c. - + = + 4x2 8x 4 52 4 (square the coefficient of x term and add to both sides of equation) - + = 4x2 8x 4 56 d. ( - + ) 4x2 8x 4 = 56 (take square root of both sides) or, ( - ) 2x 2 2 = 56 or, - = ±√ 2x 2 56 e. - = + 2x 2 56 (set left side equal to positive square root of right side and solve for x)
