Luisa Villalba Assisted Suicide: What Would You Do? P 2 Even though it is considered inhumane to end someone's life, assisted suicide should be legalized but authorized only under certain conditions. Terminally ill patients are suffering unnecessarily, and high priced medical care does not help. In one’s final hour one should be able to dictate how one wants to breathe one’s last breath. Susan Wolf brings to light the problems of assisted suicide while writing about her father's death. Wolf is forced to cope with the problems that arise at the end of life, and question her to own beliefs on assisted suicide. Wolf’s story is a heartbreaking especially since her father has been a strong person all his life. It is particularly difficult to predict what one would do when faced in a position such as Wolf was placed in. If I was in the situation that Wolf was in I would have to say that I would want my father to be happy, and not suffer in his last stretch of life. If my father had spoken the words “I want to stop” I would try my best to honor his wishes regardless of how I felt. Wolf’s father was a lawyer an educated man with a sound mind.
