Quiz: 10 multiple choice Roe v. Wade Cruzan Prove malpractice: Some of liability might be covered by doc's insurance   What do you ask for: 3x your actual costs for damages (medical bills, etc)   --> To get all of these damages, suing the doctor is not going to be enough for the plaintiff.  The doctor can be a very sympathetic defendant.  Plaintiff is much better off suing a big impersonal organization.  1. They have a deep pocket, with far more liability insurance or a large amount of assets to  pay claims 2. Jury is much more likely to stick it to a big organization   Insurance (the word itself) is not allowed to be mentioned in the court room.    What do you do if you are the plaintiff and you are not satisfied with just suing the doc and  you want ot sue the hospital? When can you hold an organization liable? Bubba - drives his semi down the highway at 75mph with bottle of jack Daniels in one hand  and a Budweiser in the other listening to on the road again, driving with his feet. Bubba  squashes new pussy cat that had just been bought as a replacement.
