There are three common errors in billing and coding. Those errors are double billing, using incorrect dates and typos. When a company is trying to bill you for two different procedures and you only got one procedure done is called double billing. Another example of double billing is when you were charged for two pills and you only took one. It’s important to check all your work to make sure you don’t put incorrect dates. An example of incorrect dates is saying a patient stayed in the hospital for more then that patient actually did. If a patient stayed in the hospital for 5 days then the bill shouldn’t state 7 days. Another example of incorrect dates is stating that a patient had surgery on for 5 hours when the patient really had surgery for an hour. Typo’s is a common error because it’s as simple as coding incorrect dates or getting a patient name
