School children are becoming far too dependent on computers. This is having an alarming effect on reading and writing skills. Teachers need to avoid using computers in the classroom at all costs and go back to teaching basic study skills. Do you agree or disagree? In contemporary society, the computer is playing a significant role in our lives. But at the same time, whether school children are too dependent on computers has sparked much debate. Some people assert that teachers should avoid using computers in the classroom at all costs, and go back to teaching basic study skills. In my opinion, I doubt the validity of this assertion. Convincing arguments can be made that computers can considerably facilitate teaching and study. To start with, computers can enhance students’ learning efficiency. There is no denying that students can quickly acquire sufficient knowledge through the Internet, such as using Google and Yahoo. Moreover, using computers, teachers can enrich the enjoyment in the classroom. Specifically, if teachers change the boring and monotonous teaching into vivid and interesting subjects through using computers, students are not resistant to absorbing knowledge and they can be motivated to learn skills. Admittedly, teaching basic study skills is not unreasonable. The reason for this is that these skills are the indispensable abilities for school children. Obviously, all of us have to rely on these basic skills, such as reading and writing, in our daily lives. Even so, I personally think that it is not necessary to avoid using computers in the classroom. It is clear that using computers and basic skills are able to coexist in the teaching field. In summary, I would concede that basic skills are crucial study methods in the aspect of teaching. Despite that, computers are also equally essential factors and are not in conflict with fundamental study methods. Overall, I am convinced that only by coordinating the function from computers and basic skills can we see the amazing effect. Topic 21: In general, people are living longer now. It is not surprising to realize that people are living longer now due to many efforts we have made to lengthen our lives. Among these efforts, I think the most important factors contributing to this phenomenon are the improvementS IN technology(,) in medicine(,) and medical care, healthy food and good social habits. As you know, technology has been /much/GREATLY/ developed to help the doctors TAKE care of their patients. Twenty years ago, there /might be/MAY HAVE BEEN/ a lack of proper hospitals or clinics in some rural areas in Asian or African countries; but now we can observe that, with the help of people all over the world donating money or anything they have, many of these places have at least one hospital in their areas. Thanks to that, many people have been saved from diseases or serious injuries resulted from accidents. Additionally, food also contributes to the longevity of our lives. For example, many Japanese
