Unformatted text preview: Defining Race and Ethnicity Jennifer O’Neal ETH 125 Cultural Diversity University of Phoenix Axia Online I have come to the conclusion that race and ethnicity have always been words that were meant to separate people into categories. Although this is not something that is always fair, and it could lead to others being hurt or put down because they happen to be by different colors, heritage, religion, and cultural background and there are some people that only intent to use this information to hurt others. People and cultures have used this information for centuries to show prejudice and hatred of people because they are different. Race as I see it has to do with people because they appear different in some way whether it be color or appearance for example Hitler showed prejudice towards the Jewish people because they were not blond haired blue eyed people or a pure race as he saw fit. Ethnicity as I see it is the separating of people into different cultural groups such as Latinos, Hispanic, Cubans, Polish...
