Tuition Reimbursement  The company has decided to investigate the implementation of a tuition  reimbursement program.  This program would reimburse employees who are pursuing  their Bachelor's degree in Business or Communications.  The belief is that reimbursing  employees for their tuition expenses will result in benefits to the company, such as  increased retention rates, as well as increased earning potential and additional  professional opportunities for the employees.  What follows is information regarding the  reasons this program will be of benefit to the company, supported by authoritative  information, the professional opportunities and earning potential that will accrue to the  employees, and other information that will assist the company in making its decision to  move forward with this program. Professional Opportunities for Employees Employees in companies that provide tuition reimbursement are "more productive  and capable of performing at a higher level (Rodriguez and Hudson-Martin, 2008)."  Because of this increased productivity, employees who have achieved higher levels of  education also find that they are eligible for promotion opportunities that would have  been out of their reach before they attained their degree.  Employees who have worked  their way up the ladder sometimes find that the next rung is out of reach unless they

increase their education.  Tuition reimbursement is one way of growing employees from  within to fill positions within the company. When employees see that there are  advancement opportunities and a commitment on the part of the company to hire from  within, they are more likely to stay with the company. Careers for Individuals with Degrees in Business or Communications A variety of careers are available to individuals who earn a degree in business or  communications.  Business degrees can individual with a specialty in management,
