IBM Lotus Connections and Near-Time share similarities in enabling users to blog, wikis and mashup because the collaborative Web Technology tools are equipped with social computing abilities. The advanced technological tools are easy to install without any IT assistance, as well as they are inexpensive. Near-Time allows users to sort out information sources, and develop new informal channels. In contrast, IBM Lotus Connections do not allow the users the same information sorting and creating functions.
