Know the parts of an atom and their relationship to each other 2. Know how to use the periodic table 3. Know what makes a solution acidic or basic and the relationship to pH. 4. Know the definition and use of buffers 5. Know the use of pH indicators 6. Be familiar with solubility and reactions of biological molecules. 1. Atomic Structure Things Required: Periodic Table. Use the periodic table to determine the number of protons, electrons and neutrons for the following elements. 1 point i. Atomic number = Number of Protons = Number of Electrons ii. Mass number (atomic weight) – Atomic Number = Number of Neutrons. iii. If you get fractions, simply round the number up e.g., 25.8 = 26.
