Unformatted text preview: Checkpoint: Kennedy’s New Frontier Plan Kennedy had many hopes when it came to the New Frontier Plan. He wanted to boost the United States economy, he wanted to build up the United States national defenses, and aid third world countries. Kennedy gave big tax breaks and credits to a lot of large corporations to help the nation’s economy. Kennedy was also worried about protecting the consumers in America; by keeping an eye on prices throughout the country. Kennedy designated that $20 billion would be sent to Latin America in a foreign aid plan that spanned ten years; this plan was called the Alliance of Progress. Latin America in turn changed its tax laws in hope of starving off a political revolution. Kennedy also formed the Peace Corp. The Peace Corps is a government agency that is solely devoted to maintaining world peace and friendship.
