Question 1 Sociologists thought that if modernization became evident in Third World religious beliefs, religion in politics would diminish. Sociologists also thought that if religion and religious beliefs became popular, politics would grow even with the modernization taking place in their society. Sociologists believed that the role of religion in politics would fade away, just as it had in the West. Secularization is essential to the development of a society. Church and state are more effective when they are kept separate. Question 2 Once upon a time ago, Protestant religion seemed to be the most hospitable, with Catholic and Confucianism being recognized as the least friendly. But over time, these views have changed and Protestants are no longer viewed as the most hospitable. The Protestant religion takes into consideration different versions of their religion. Since many versions were accepted, a new found religious freedom was discovered. Protestants did not have a tight hold on their followers and this freedom allowed religion to easily be
