David has developed a maskless lithography system for microsystem patterning, permitting a fundamental change in the typical microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) fabrication process. Currently he is leading technical development on an application-specific chemical microsystem analyzer for in-water applications. He enjoys being a scientist because he is able to make a living while being creative. He would encourage young people to consider science as a profession, because there are many opportunities to use a variety of talents, be innovative, and have fun while you work. He still considers his greatest work produced to be his four children....
