Unit One CINMS ©Project Oceanography Spring 2002 1 Program Coauthors Laura Francis M.A. in Deep Sea Biology Laura earned a bachelor’s degree in Zoology from the UC at Berkeley followed by a master’s from UC Santa Barbara. She is currently the Education Coordinator at the CINMS office in Santa Barbara. She has worked as a marine researcher and educator for more than ten years in various positions. Her research interests include kelp forest ecology and population dynamics. She thinks that the best part of her job is being able to share her love of the ocean with students and teachers. She also enjoys being able to spend time in the marine environment diving, kayaking, and wildlife viewing. She would like students to know that they have a responsibility to learn as much as they can about the oceans and share that knowledge with others to ensure that our oceans are protected and cared for now and in the future. Sarah Fangman Masters of Marine Affairs Sarah earned a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies and Biology at Middlebury College in Vermont followed by a master’s degree from the University of Washington. She is currently a Research Coordinator for the CINMS in Santa
