presentation that has improved our presentation skills thanks to their comment and advices. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Throughout Malaysia, fabric manufacturers have established their businesses and built their reputations on one thing above all else: quality and competition. The most popular batik works make use of large floral motifs on silk and cotton fabrics. Designs of butterflies, leaves, birds and geometry are common, and each state of Malaysia has developed its own designs. These days, designers use batik sarongs for interior decoration. The government of Malaysia is endorsing batik as its national dress, and is encouraging homegrown designers to experiment more with it. Fashion in Malaysia is influenced by the historical fusion of Malay, Chinese, Indian and various other indigenous cultures. Within Malaysian society there is a Malay culture, a Chinese culture, an Indian culture, a Eurasian culture, along with the cultures of the indigenous groups of the peninsula and north Borneo. A unified Malaysian culture is something only emerging in the country. The important social distinction in the emergent national culture is between Malay and non-Malay, represented by two groups: the Malay elite that dominate the country's politics, and the largely Chinese middle class whose prosperous lifestyle leads Malaysia's shift to a consumer society.
