Jack Ren Report 2011/7/1 Student name: Jack (Ren Di) Lab partner name: Michael Yeah (Deng Yinan)
Jack Ren Report 2011/7/1 Introduction Everything has its velocity. This experiment is about velocity. In this experiment, we are repeating a famous experiment of Galileo. The difference is that we used air table and pucks to do the experiment. But Galileo did not have the air table. For the experiment, we level the air table firstly. And then, place the white paper on the table, with the grid towards the black paper. After that, we use spark timers to record the position of puck. Date and analyze Δy (cm) δΔy (cm) δΔy/Δy Δt (s) δΔt/Δt 1 2.00 0.05 2.50% 0.05 0.20% 2 2.00 0.05 2.50% 0.05 0.20% 3 1.90 0.05 2.63% 0.05 0.20% 4 1.90 0.04 2.11% 0.05 0.20% 5 2.00 0.02 1.00% 0.05 0.20% 6 2.10 0.04 1.90% 0.05 0.20% 7 2.00 0.03 1.50% 0.05 0.20% 8 2.00 0.00 0.00% 0.05 0.20% 9 2.00 0.00 0.00% 0.05 0.20% 10 2.00 0.03 1.50% 0.05 0.20% 11 2.00 0.03 1.50% 0.05 0.20% 12 2.00 0.01 0.50% 0.05 0.20% 1. We use ruler to measure the distance between every two points. And record these date as Δy. The timer leaves a mark every 50 ms. Thus Δt is 0.05s.
