Axia College Material Appendix D Appeals Directions Complete Part I and II below. Each response must be 100 to 150 words in length. Post this assignment as an attachment. Part I Describe the five steps in the appeals process. Why is this process important? Do you think it is effective in its current state? Explain your answers. Step 1 is the simplest it is filing the appeal within the allotted amount of time. This is very crucial to get done on time or the right to appeal could be lost. Step 2 the defendant has to get the trial court records and supporting documents filed in the court. Again this is a very important step because this is what helps to show what the lower court made as their decision. Step 3 the briefs have to be filed with the court. Briefs are summaries of the previous trials based on the same topic and give the basis of the arguments to be made. Step 4 the parties are allowed to give a brief argument to their side of the case.
