CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAMS 2 Crime Prevention Programs 1. Why must the police implement community-based programs designed for crime prevention? The police cannot solve all crimes by themselves the community is one of their biggest allies. The police also cannot let the citizens take the law into their own hands so the police have to work with them. When a community and police force can work together crime levels can come down. What do these programs provide for the community? These programs provide security and confidence in the community. When the community can trust the police to work with them and not against them then the citizens feel more secure. It also helps the police do their job better when they can trust that the citizens of the community work with them. It is a community program so that everyone can work together to make their neighborhoods feel safer.
