1. Why is there a need for proper relationships between the police and the community? Police are needed to handle emergencies, maintain order, and promote a sense of security in the community (Wadsworth, 2006). It is very important to have the community and the police to work together so that the community feels safer and the police can work with the community. Most of the time the community will work with police officers if they feel they can trust them. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this understanding? The advantages of the police and community working together are that they will help each other in solving crimes and keeping the community safe. The disadvantages of the police and community working together are that the people in the community could try and take advantage of the trust the officer has for them and abuse the power of trust.
