Abstract Gebruder Dassler was formed in 1924 by a pair of German brothers interested in making innovative footwear for professional athletes competing in a variety of track and field events in the 1928 Olympic Games (Thompson Jr., Strickland III, & Gamble, 2010). Though dissolved in 1948, Adi Dassler, one half of the founders, continued to produce sports shoes under the Adidas name ("Adidas," 2011). This report takes a look their recent corporate restructuring plan, along with some of the Adidas acquisitions, and summarizes the positives and negatives of both. It also proposes action that can be taken in order for Adidas to maintain their current success and attempt to overtake Nike as the leader in athletic apparel.
