Exam 1 Review There will be four to five problems on the exam. 1 problem, rigid tank, ideal gas, some “other work” interaction will be involved (paddle wheel or electric heating) 1 problem, rigid tank, non-ideal gas, steam , some “other work” interaction will be involved (paddle wheel or electric heating), will need to use property data, cannot assume ideal gas. 1 problem, piston cylinder device, with steam but you can assume ideal gas, constant pressure process, some other work interaction such as electric resistance heating, when done, use Tr and Pr to test whether or not the ideal gas assumption was any good. 1 problem, piston cylinder device, ideal gas, polytropic process 1 problem, psychrometric mixing and heating problem, two air streams will be mixed and then the mixed air will be heated. You’ll need to be able to show the process on a psych chart (provided), calc the mixed air properties and the amount of heat transfer required to heat the mixture to a final state.
