Anshum Sood Mrs. Pierce AP English 11/ Period. 4 29 September 2008 Active Protesting: The Best Means of Protest Without some of the great governmental protestors throughout the course of history, like Rosa Parks and many others, the world as we know it would cease to exist. But by boldly standing against the government for all the right reasons, historical, as well as literary, figures helped shape our world; they never thought twice of the repercussions of their actions and how they would affect them; instead they just realized the positive effects their actions would have on the world, which is why active protesting is the best means of protest. John Procter in The Crucible , stood up for what was morally right: he chose not to give into a despicable lie that though would save his own life, but also on the other hand possessed the capability of wrecking the lives of countless others. The results of his actions proved quite successful- he invigorated the senses of the Massachusetts’s government, whom acknowledged the atrocities they committed against the people of Salem, for which they paid repentance by the form of money and apologies for the lives they destroyed.
