Anshum Sood Ms. Brydon AP Environmental Science 14 July 14, 2007 Delay in Report of UP Spill : Published 6 July 2007 Federal officials are looking into they weren’t told of a train derailment that spilled huge quantities of ethanol and gallons of peanut oil onto a hillside above the north fork of the Feather River till after several days. A gigantic boulder, about the size of two cars, caused 20 freight cars causing them to spill 30,000 gallons of ethanol and 500 gallons of peanut oil. The initial reports which were made by the state’s Office of Emergency Services said that only small amounts of ethanol and peanut oil were spilled. The next day the report was updated and said hundreds of gallons was spilled.
