Battle Brews on California Rivers: Published 29 July 2007 There is a bill, proposed by Assemblywoman Lois Wolk, to control some of the gold dredging that is occurring in the rivers, which is also harming the fish population. This bill, AB 1032, would close 1,100 “wild heritage trout streams”, where dredging is hurting the fish. The bill was proposed because of complains by Game biologists and researchers that gold dredging is destroying spawning grounds for coho salmon, green sturgeon and many other fish.
