Possessing the ability by birth is something that is not earned, but is given by right. “Alcibiades deserves to lead the army because of his noble birth and native endowments.” (Pojman 1999) Earning what we deserve is a great task, there are however some people who obtain things just because of their fame. Fame and fortune should never put a person in front line. Why do certain people get the better treatment because of their fame? Well, many people believe that money gives you power. This is a false statement, reason is because money mainly gives you liability not power. Within power comes great responsibility, many people do not have much responsibility because of their deserts. The reasons why many people have more deserts than merits are because of who they are, and what family they come from. Focusing on someone’s deserts rather than their merits is like focusing on just one hand instead of both. One hand should always wash the other.
