THE CASE STUDY 2 Most organizations operating on local or even international business environment have developed organizational policies protect intellectual property as well as trade secrets. Notably, a significant number of companies and organizations have managed to remain competitive, profitable and productive in the market due to appropriate and effective policies that safeguard their trade secrets and intellectual property (Harms & Organisation mondiale de la propriété intellectuelle, 2012). Notably, any company is likely to be adversely affected if its trade secrets leak to the public. Perhaps, this is why Jimmy John's Company has introduced a policy to regulate the operational practices and trade secrets. Jimmy John's management has a policy that requires all its employees including the entry-level workers to adhere to a noncompetition clause as part of the hiring procedure. Notably, the agreement requires workers not to work at any business associated with deli- style, hero-type, and sub-marine, wrapped or rolled sandwiches (Mathis & Jackson, 2011). The policy also hinders former workers from working in such businesses for two years after ending their association with the company. Based on my understanding of the case study, Jimmy John's management has various understandable reasons for adopting this policy.
