Ashley B. Hilliard 258-10-0169 June 1, 2011 MG 615 Lesson#5, Assignment 4 Developing a Disaster Recovery Plan Dirt Bikes USA is based in Carbondale, Colorado. Carbondale is a small town between Denver and Grand Junction, south of Interstate 70, with a population of 5,881 as of 2005. Due to the somewhat remote location, and the size of the town, some threats that the company may face are fire, inclement weather, and possibly an unstable power grid. The town depends on a mostly volunteer fire department which could be a problem if there was a major fire at the facility. The average snowfall is given in one spot as 45 ” and in another as 69 ”. Although the area is probably used to dealing with this snowfall, a bad enough storm could possibly shutdown production (at least distribution) for a day or two. With a small town like Carbondale, the power grids are usually somewhat unstable, and there is always the chance of a power outage shutting down production at the plant.
