Kala Carroll April 13, 2011 Essay 5- Process A Guide to Independence When it comes time to finally get a place of your own, expect to feel some anxiety. This is can be a good thing if you direct your apprehensions in a positive way; as a result, this will prevent you from making any haste decisions. Renting a home that suits your needs and requirements can be time consuming as well as challenging. Your decision should be made using a variety of factors. When searching for your first rental home or apartment, these are a few steps that should first be considered to make your pursuit to independence a pleasant and rewarding experience. First off, get a notebook. This will come in handy when doing all your research. Start by figuring out what you can afford for your monthly rent, power, water, any deposits, and cable; which isn’t a necessity, but I wouldn’t want to live without it. You don’t want all your money going to bills. You need to consider gas, food, and any other prior bills you may have.
