MGMT 5211 Lesson 6 The topic of payments and financing are important for a business. Unlike the Government, if a business’s cash flow isn’t enough to cover it’s payroll, vendor bills, and taxes, it goes out of business. The topic is also important to the Government. Some types of payments and financing that are available are negotiable. As an example, the Government does not have to give or allow progress payments, a type of financing on fixed-price contracts. The Government can request in the solicitations they issue as request that the offeror(s) provide the Government with the types of financing or payments they are looking for should they be awarded the contract. The Government then considered the “cost” to the Government based on the type of payment/financing requested by the offeror(s). In the world of Government Contracting, payments and financing are mixed together. The types of payments and financing available to the Contractor is frequently governed by the type of contract (FFP, CPFF, etc.) awarded by the Government.
