April 2 nd 2008 Deng’s reforms what happened after the 1970’s? Late 1970’s China had lived through many years of Mao reform. In some respects, you can point out some good things about Mao’s reign, and Deng Xiaoping wanted to improve it. Although people lived in their own houses, land was communal; the idea was to spread the work and the gains evenly within the commune. There is an element of political control over there as well; the party founder easier to control the commons. But the idea was very powerful; it would guarantee consistence. That was what the communist party was trying to guarantee after the great leap forward the Chinese party realized that something like that could never happened again and prevent famine from occurring again. There is very little reliance on cars; most people are riding bicycles, but there is no reliance on oil. What are the changes that are introduced from the late 1970’s onwards by Den Xiaoping? -
