AutoCAD Set Up The following will be general things that you can do to make sure your home computer is running smoothly and has the same (or mostly the same) settings as the computers in the lab and around campus. Configuration Files: I'm not going to bore you with details, but there are some bugs in the new version of the program, so I've provided 2 configuration files that fix some of these errors. There are more, but I cannot fix them. Go to Lessons> CAD Files and SAVE NC.lsp as well as acad2011doc.lsp . Navigate to the following folder on your computer: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2011\Support copy and paste both files into this folder. You will get an error that acad2011doc.lsp already exist and it will ask if you want to overwrite the existing file, select YES . You want to overwrite the existing configuration file. Activation: When you first open the program it will ask you to register/activate the software, go ahead and register the software. If you do not, your license will end in 30 days and you will not be able to use the program. Toolarbars/Palettes: The default view of the program shows the tools on tool palettes (similar to the Microsoft Office 2007 format). Some people prefer this view, others however do not.
