Pikes Peak Community College Office of Distance Education ● 5675 S. Academy Boulevard ● Colorado Springs, CO 80906 ● (719) 502-3555 Mathematics Department (719) 502-3600 Dear Math Online Student, Hello and Welcome to the Summer 2010 online College Algebra course MAT 121 section 1N1 or Section 1N2 or section 9N1 at Pikes Peak Community College. ORIENTATION If this is your first Internet-based class, please try to attend the following orientation. Thursday, May 27, Centennial Campus, Room A167 6:30-7:30 pm Tuesday, June 1, Rampart Range Campus, Room W101 6:30-7:30 pm BUYING THE TEXTBOOK AND GRAPHING CALCULATOR It is absolutely imperative to your success that you have the correct book in the first week of class. The online book is different from the face-to-face classes. Your book should have a chili pepper picture on it, not a light bulb. You are required to have a textbook, a TI83, 84 or 86 graphing calculator, and MyMathLab(MML). You have the following options for purchasing the text, MML and calculator. You may purchase the calculator from the bookstore, but I recommend you try to find a cheaper used one. 1) Be careful not to get the CCCOnline book. Purchase the Internet PPCC book at Centennial campus . It is the College Algebra, an Early Functions Approach , 2 nd edition with MyMathLab, author Blitzer, publisher Pearson. ISBN: 0321614712 2) You do not need the study pack; you do need the MyMathLab bundled with the book. Important Note:
