MGNT920 Page 2 of 7 1.Introduction Originated in 1948, The World Health Organization has come a long way devoting itself towards improving the individual’shealth around the globe. WHO is an autonomous organizations working with United Nations (UN) with its headquarters located in Geneva Switzerland. The major responsibilities of WHO is improving sanitation, health and diseases of the people. As much of poor hygiene and health system is found in under develop countries, one of WHO’saim is to help under develop countries to improve its health system, by providing infrastructure, manpower and institutions. WHO also aims to combat diseases, epidemics and stopping them from spreading by sending medical team to fight it. One of its biggest achievement is its role in eradication of smallpox. Currently, WHO priorities include infectious diseases such as AIDS/HIV, Malaria, Ebola, Tuberculosis. My interaction with WHO was when Indian Government started a sanitation awareness campaign in my local school under the guideline of WHO’s Universal health coverage (UHC). I was one of the volunteers to help them in their campaign. Based on World Health Organization this essay emphases on its Purpose served by it which is the task undertaken by it and what goal it wants to achieve, The complexity of its Organizational structure and which coordination mechanism the use and deal integration challenges. 2.The Organisation 2.1Purpose As the World Health Organization deal with improving individual health its main purpose is to conduct extensive research and find innovative solutions, which can be implemented into policies and actions that can achieve sustainable universal health coverage.
