Competitive Advantages 2 Competitive Advantages Paper Today’s business environment is very competitive, especially as more companies realize that their domestic opportunities landscape is shrinking. As opportunities decrease in the domestic market, organizations are looking toward the global market for gaining competitive advantage. In this paper, team A will analyze the competitive advantages Riordan Manufacturing, Incorporated (Riordan) has in common with other organizations; estimate the competitive strategies Riordan could use for improving innovation and sustainability in business operations in the United States and the global market; and explain the reasoning behind selecting the chosen strategies and estimate the ways in which they will affect sustainability of long-term organizational performance. Finally, team A will describe how the global market will affect Riordan’s business strategy. Competitive Advantages in Common Vehicle Manufacturers Some of the competitive advantages Ford Motor Company, General Motors Company, and Toyota have in common with Riordan are cost and differentiation. Ford management ex- pressed three advantages to their upper management with the hope that the cost savings would propel Ford into a better competitive position, which included cutting product costs and downsiz- ing employees. Ford has operations in four countries, the United States, Brazil, Canada, and Mexico (SUDESCA, 2010). Ford provides its customers with a variety, which should increase profits and global share. General Motors offers a variety of automobiles that compete with Ford for cost and differentiation. General Motors offers automobile services in 140 countries with manufacturing facilities in 34 countries.
