Chapter 8: Children at the age of 3, their growth slows down and they start to slim and their body gets proportional. Boys tend to be bigger than girls. But culture has a lot to do with their size because their background plays a big role (the culture, the prenatal care, and the genes). There is a lot of brain activity at this age, the dendrites are growing and the brains start to prune. ... some things arent being used. the corpus callosum is the fibers that connect the right and left part of the brain. if a person is right handed, that means the left side of the brain is controlling it. another thing about brain development is that MYLIN is developing, which speeds up a childs movements and as their body grows, their cerebelum will help them walk steadily. thier hippocampus will help their memory improve as they get older.

Sometimes children at this age become picky eaters, but in the end they will eat what they need to eat, but dont give them food you know they will hate (like liver) because its not supposed to be torture. Its not really good to bribe them with stickers or something. Its okay if they are picky eaters because their weight has slowed down so its okay if they are eating less, but they should be active. they need brain fuel like proteins and healthy fats. Immunizations - it is still being looked at if various immunizations at once can be linked to autism. Death - sudden death is a big deal at this age because of vehicle collisions, drowning. its very important to childproof all over the house, especially under the sink.

At this age, children learn best by playing. So if you want them to work, you need to pretend that it is like a game, because play is how they figure things out. Children sleep a lot less at this age as opposed to when they were 1 year old. Chapter 9: Cognitive Development Piaget : Stage 1- sensorimotor Stage 2- Preoperational stage:
