Film NOir is a convenient term used to describe stylish H films, crime movies that emphasize cynical attitude, usually sexual motivation. from 40s. \ FILM NOIR- took place in the 40s and early 50s. FIlm Noir- label not present when it was being made. Type of film being made that later on critics labeled. sign of the times. as US going towards WW2, the attitudes of ppl, more open to darker stories. fantasy, fairytale story not accepted after seeing devastating crimes and atrocities ppl became aware of after WW2. These kinds of attitudes were generated by these filmmakers who were apart of that pulse of AMerica. It was born out of attitudes that shaped that time.
