Unformatted text preview: We are used to thinking religion has something to do with churches and priests...but all those above things show us it has great diversity . It dictates a great deal of peoples life from the day they wake up to the time they go to sleep. It represents the ultimate authority that supersedes all else . If we do not understand something about religion and the cultures that give birth to different religions, then we do not really have a good way of understanding the world we live in today. History of the Religion → Comes from the Latin word religio , and has something to do with the word “ to join again ” and to “ be alive ”. It eludes to a way of thinking that is other than our usual engagement of the day and offers a bridge to this conceptual view of the world. → P RE-R ENAISSANCE /M IDDLE A GES- Religion originally had a connection to a Christian way of looking at the world and Christian practice. A religious was a practicing monk or nun. - RELIGION (that was Christianity) and “other practices”..was how it was understood in pre-renaissance.
