It dictates a great deal of peoples life from the day they wake up to the time they go to sleep. It represents the ultimate authority that supersedes all else . If we do not understand something about religion and the cultures that give birth to different religions, then we do not really have a good way of understanding the world we live in today. History of the Religion Comes from the Latin word religio , and has something to do with the word to join again and to be alive . It eludes to a way of thinking that is other than our usual engagement of the day and offers a bridge to this conceptual view of the world. P RE-R ENAISSANCE /M IDDLE A GES- Religion originally had a connection to a Christian way of looking at the world and Christian practice. A religious was a practicing monk or nun. - RELIGION (that was Christianity) and other practices..was how it was understood in pre-renaissance.
