Valerie Bodden Kluge (10-0014) Introduction to International Business November 25, 2009 Market Trend “A Better Way to Search.” Many people believed that it would be useless to invest money on search engine websites because of Google’s market segment size. The only thing they were missing was imagination and the will to be different, something that the people in Microsoft took advantage off. “Unveiled on May 28, 2009, and went fully online on June 3, 2009”(3) Microsoft’s Bing has then forth gained by “August 2009, 9.3 percent of the United States Internet search market” and appears to be steadily increasing its market share percentage.(2) It only took the idea to renovate their previous Window’s Live Search and turn it into something far more consumer friendly. Now a days the most important objective any company releasing a new product should have, is aiming to be different, and easier at the same time and Bing’s team manage to do just that. With the concept of “decision engine” in their hand, they shaped up the engine to be just that. When the client access their website, www.bing.com, and enters the keywords for their search, Bing works completely different than any other search engine in presenting the results. They use an “explorer pane” (4) on which the search’s results are presented and divided according to category or sections. For example, if you type in hotels, Bing will not expose the results as their opponent Google
