Geology The outer banks of N.C. are barrier islands. -East coast barrier islands consist entirely of sand that is migrating from north to south while the islands move from east to west as sea level rises. Natural barrier islands of Cap Lookout have -A wide beach with low slope -A low dune -Salt tolerant vegetation -Over wash during storms -Biologically productive marsh and lagoon The storm driven over wash causes them to move from east to west as sea level rises Stabilized barrier islands of Cape Hatteras have -Man made dunes to protect property -Steep, narrow beach subject to erosion -Thick growth of exotic shrubs and brush -No over wash during storms to move island with rising sea level

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
