Recent drought is causing much concern -Las Vegas gets more than 90% of its water from the Colorado River Las Vegas gets its water from Lake Powell and water levels in Lake Powell are more than 100 ft. below the spillway. Earthquakes are ground shaking caused by seismic waves -Seismic waves are the energy released as rocks snap back to their preferred shape after a break occurs. -Earthquakes are more common at plate boundaries but can occur nearly anywhere
