Children’s play evolves from gross motor skills to introduction of fine motor skills [one child runs then another child runs, they are just following along and imitating gross motor play, they play to experiment with world [ no rules or goals]]; learn a great deal by playing. - children will play with a wide variety of individuals - 2. its very social, children learn to work with one another, they learn to compromise, they learn how to cooperate, how parents differently treat boys and girls which set up gender expectations and roles, they treat them differently with the types of play, fathers tend to do rough and tumble kind of play, mothers usually engage in progressive language communication, girls are verbally prepared for schools, mothers hold infant daughters longer, there are some differences in how children are treated depending on their sex so implication on gender roles, & universally girls and boys select toys, boys playing with girls toys – upsetting but not distressing if a girl plays with a boys toy - So basically how much taught by culture?
