Learning Team Charter Analysis Abstract This paper will address the University of Phoenix Team Charter for Team E. Group communication is important in the academic setting as well as in business. Group communications will be defined and the differences between group communications and individual communications will be addressed. Strategies to promote communication will be outlined. Dispute resolution is a key factor in communication, so the aspects and options surrounding this will also be offered. Effective strategies for fostering good team communication will be provided. Finally, the paper will offer technologies that can help facilitate group communication and the disadvantages of each. COM285 2

Learning Team Charter Analysis Learning Team Charter Analysis Collaborative learning or working in learning teams is a team process where members support and work together to achieve a specific goal. The objective of assembling a team is to accomplish a specific goal. The purpose of a team is to achieve the goal through its performance and results. The teamwork provides better possibilities for completion of the goal because each team member contributes a different talent. Before a team can begin to achieve the goal, the team must communicate each of the member’s talents and qualifications. To help in identifying the talents the team members complete a Learning Team Charter. A Learning Team Charter is a tool used to identify a team’s purpose, methodology, and infrastructure to support the team in carrying out the completion of the project. A team-oriented document provides guidelines on behavior, administrative functions, and relationships. It allows team members who are otherwise unfamiliar with their peers on the team to become aware of team expectations and their role within the team dynamic (Stefanova, 2007). The team completes a Team Charter to recognize each team member’s talents. The team charter defines a team’s purpose, approach, and infrastructure to support them in carrying out the project. A team- oriented document allows team members to familiarize their self with the other team members. Individual and Group Communication Group communication relates to the concept of team. More specifically employee teams are groups of individuals assembled to achieve common goals. The interaction between the members of the team is called group communication. Most (if not all) teams use communication to deliver information, services, and get work done. Frequently the success or failure of a team COM285 3
