1. Change by Angela Mañalang Gloria I think the persona’s gender is portraying a female. The form of the poem is structured because it is a sonnet that has a predictable pattern. The author used various connotations for this poem. The speaker in the poem shows or expresses like she’s being loved or she’s loving a lot of things. I think the poem is about how fast we love and forget things and how fast things change. It’s like we love out of a need, and then we leave and took them for granted and then we love something new again. It’s like as she grows older, she falls out of love with the present, and moves on to the next thing. In the first part of the poem, it suggests that she loves her life. And then suddenly, she talks about death and treats it as her final change or love, “Sooner or later I shall put away, this jeweled ecstasy for something new”. I think the ecstasy that she was talking about was life and then the fatal day was death. Death is inevitable, and change is too. She said that change is her drink and bread and if you are dead, you are unable to love so
