Math 2303 Linear Algebra Section 2.4 Matrix Operations Recall that a matrix is a two-dimensional array of numbers. The size of a matrix is the number of rows and the number of columns. Matrix A is 2x3 means that it has 2 rows and 3 columns. Recall that two matrices may be added if and ONLY IF they are the same same. To add two matrices of the same size, simply add corresponding components. A matrix may be multiplied by a scalar by multiplying each entry in the matrix by the scalar.
