Communications 143 Professor Karyl Kicenski Anything but ordinary…aren’t we all? The song Anything but Ordinary written and sung by Avril Lavigne is one that the vast majority of the population can relate to. It’s a song with a promising chorus, one that you can instantly pick up the lyrics to and sing along with. Anything but Ordinary is a song you can relate to: Is it enough to love? Is it enough to breathe? Somebody rip my heart out and leave me here to bleed. Lavigne sings about deep emotions we have all experienced one time or another in our confusing lives. However, although this song is predominantly directed to those who have had their hearts broken even listeners who haven’t experienced such heartache imagine the pain and angst in her lyrics. The basic foundation of rhetoric is based on the “statements that are evoked by the need to make choices in order that we may act or get ready to act or to appraise our acts after their doing”. Lavigne has clearly depicted this by writing about her experiences of wanting to be anything but ordinary which may have resulted from life experiences that lies on such a broad
