Online Assignment 1 BUS 116 0901SP Frances Drew The truth about the infamous McDonald’s coffee case is that the fast food chain acted recklessly and it time that someone brought them to trail to make them pay for their recklessness. While many people joke and laugh about this case, the truth of the matter is an elderly woman was seriously injured within minutes of making a purchase, and the chain knew that this could, and had happened. Mrs. Liebeck while riding with her grandson in the passenger side of his car went through an Albuquerque, NM McDonald’s drive through. While the car was parked she opened the lid to her coffee to add cream and sugar and the coffee spilled in her lap. She then spent 7 days in the hospital suffering from 3 rd degree burns to her thighs, buttocks and genital areas that require skin grafts. When she was released she contacted McDonalds requesting that they cover her medical expenses. When they refused she then took them to court. Once this case went to trial it was then learned that Mrs. Liebeck was not the first person
