 8/12/11 URBANIZATION Challenges and Benefits Environmental Challenges Urbanization can lead to a number of problems. With increases in population comes increases in traffic, both human and motorized. The increased traffic is a major source of pollution. All these people need places to live, whether it is houses, apartments, or both. Overdevelopment and clearing of our forests and rainforests have been an issue for many years and is now becoming a problem. Urbanization has obvious implications on the environment.
