MY PERSUASIVE SPEECH OUTLINESGREETINGS:Hello everyone and a very good morning to our beloved lecturer, Mr.Nelson, also to my fellow classmates. My topic for today is “Say No ToPlastic Straws”.INTRODUCTION:Before I go further, I would like to share one video, which went viral in2015.You have probably seen this video. It is a video of a Costa Rican teamremoving a plastic straw from a sea turtle’s nose. This video went viral in2015 sparking a public outcry to “say no to plastic straws”, pivoting tobiodegradable straws and a newly designed lid.Plastic straw may seem like a small, fun addition to your drink but thereis a growing movement making up to the fact that plastic straw is suck.-In the United States of America, 500 million straws are used everysingle day and one study which published earlier this yearestimated as many as 8.3 billion plastic straws pollute the world’sbeaches, where it is enough straws to wrap around the earthcircumference 2.5 times. -Here in Malaysia alone, we are using up to 30 million straws perday or nearly 11 billion straws a year, according to The Star. Plastic straws can take up to 200 years to disintegrate and that is really, really long time which means the first ever plastic straws invented isprobably still around and some will be here even when we are gone.-There is a study predicted that by year 2050, there will be moreplastic waste in the ocean than fishes.-Since 1988, plastic straw has consistently been among the topitems collected based on item counts during annual clean upevent. Today, I hope I can persuade each one of you to start to say, “No toPlastic Straws”.Why plastic straws bad for the us? What does the problem occur whenthere is so many plastic wastes in our ocean?(Transition: Let us look more closely what is the impact of plasticpollution to the world.)
BODY:Here are a few reasons why we have to say no to plastic straws andwhat we can use instead. As we watch the video earlier today, we know that the plastic straw canharm the marine wildlife and the ecosystems.
