2 Six Sigma Paper Six Sigma is a rigorous and systematic methodology that uses information and statistical analysis to measure and improve a corporation’s operational performance, practice ,and systems by identifying and preventing “defects” in a business processes. Six Sigma has two key methodologies: DMAIC which means define measure, analyze, improve and control. DMADV, define measure, analyze, design and verify, also known as DFSS or Design for Six Sigma. There are many reasons why for companies implement Six Sigma, quality improvement , improve process flow, enhance employee skills , improve the company’s market shares, earnings and profitability and customer satisfaction. DMAIC is a logical and structural approach to problem solving and process improvement, an interactive process (continuous improvement. DMAIC is a quality tool with focus on change management. DMAIC methodology would be used when a product or process is in existence at a company but is not meeting customer specification or is not performing adequately. DMADV methodology is used when a product or process is not in existence in a corporation and one needs to be developed. The existing product or process exists and has been optimized and still does not meet the level of customer specification or six sigma level. With proper implementation Six Sigma can successful for any company.
